Firefox for Android now supports Personas themes

Mozilla has released the Personas add-on for Firefox Mobile, allowing you to install any of the hundreds of lightweight themes available at getpersonas.com. While there's not much chrome to theme on Firefox Mobile, there will no doubt be plenty of users who leap at the chance to customize its interface. Your Persona will appear in a few places: on the Awesome Screen (which appears when you tap in the address bar), on Firefox Mobile's tools panels, in the Form Assistant, and in the Find in Page dialog.

If you've got Firefox for Android installed, just hit the add-ons page and check the recommended add-ons at the bottom of the page -- Personas should be listed there. If not, just search for it and install!

Uh Oh! 4G Broadband Might Jam GPS Signals? [Unconfirmed]

Grab your tinfoil hats and teddy bears, folks! There are some scary whispers about GPS-jamming 4G signals going around. The theory appears to be that 4G broadband frequencies (1525-1559MHz) are close enough to GPS frequencies (1559-1610MHz) to cause disastrous interference. [GPS World via Slashdot] More »

Immunet becomes default antivirus app in Google Pack

For a while now, Google has offered Google Pack -- a collection of free programs for Windows users. The bundle has always included essential apps, including tools for working with digital photos, communicating with friends, and, of course, Google toolbars for Firefox and Internet Explorer. An antivirus program has also been part of the Pack, and until very recently Avast! was the app of choice.

Now, Canadian-made Immunet has been added to the mix. Avast is still offered, but Immunet is now one of the default apps -- select company which only includes Google's own apps and Adobe Reader. To be included in that group is a big deal for the antivirus upstart, considering Immunet has only been available to download since August 2009. This is the company's second big win in 2011, having already gained a big boost in terms of enterprise credibility when it was acquired by Sourcefire.

Why You Should Never Steal From a Vengeful Guy With a Surveilance System [Video]

A little while ago a guy noticed his shovel was missing from his front yard, so he checked his security camera footage to see what might've happened to it. What'd he discover? Some woman walked into his yard, stole his shovel, and let her dog take a dump on his snow-covered lawn. He also discovered which of the street-parked cars was hers. More »

Former Lucasfilm CTO Richard Kerris takes over as head of webOS developer relations

HP's having a blowout webOS developer event here in San Francisco to bookend its big product announcements from this morning, and it kicked things off with a personnel announcement -- Richard Kerris is taking over as head of webOS developer relations. Don't recognize the name? Richard was formerly the chief technology officer at Lucasfilm, where he was named one of Variety's "Top 10 innovators to Watch," and before that he was a senior director of developer relations for a little company called Apple. That's quite a pedigree -- and Richard told the crowd here that he views developers as his primary customers, so it's clear he'll be working hard to win their favor. That said, we think he's got quite a challenge evangelizing developers to support a platform that won't have compelling new products out for months -- let's all wish him luck.

HP's webOS keyboard hands-on

HP confirmed that slick webOS keyboard we saw leaked a while back during its event today, and we got a quick chance to check it out. It's really, really thin -- and the battery compartment is tucked under the curve, so from most angles it looks like it's not even there. Apart from that, it's just a really nice keyboard, albeit one with a webOS function key next to the space bar. No price or availability yet, unfortunately, but we'll keep digging.
